PHOTOGRAPHER | HUMANITARIAN
François Struzik is a professional photo-reporter based in Belgium. Master in Slavic Languages and Literatures and in Political Sciences at the ULB (Brussels), he was also a student at Unywersytet Jagiellonski in Krakow, Poland.
François has collaborated on a regular basis for the past 10 years with international NGOs such as UNICEF, IOM, WFP, Handicap International, Medicins du Monde, Terres des Hommes, Action Damien among many others. Working on social and religious issues, he currently runs a number of projects: from Stocznia Gdanska (LEICA Belgium Exhibition 2005) to State of Shock (Sorrow in Kashmir) and Havendok (imaginary maritime city).
His present work focuses on folk Sufism in different parts of the Muslim world.
François is also the founder of Simply-Human Photography which he launched in 2005. It has always been important for him to share his work: during workshops with students, on guided tours of his exhibitions for a very large and sometimes fragilized audience, for public exhibitions. His work has been exhibited in different countries in Europe and worldwide.
Having worked in some of the most troubled parts of the world including Palestine, Gaza, Syria, Kashmir and Sierra Leone, his imagery are a reflection of humanity found around the world, connecting the viewer to the subjects in his photography through depicting the interconnected-ness that exists between all of us.
